Google Analytics is the most popular website statistics software that is available to anyone around the globe. The best part is that it’s free, so if you have a website and you want to know more about your visitors, you can achieve this in just a few minutes and I’m going to teach you how.

First things first, you’re going to need a Google account so let’s explore that. Creating a Google account is best done by signing up for a Google Email account, this account will then give you access to all the Google tools, which includes Google Analytics. To get stared, please , and then click on the big red button at the top right of the screen that says, “CREATE AN ACCOUNT”. Fill out the form that appears on the right with all your information and Google will guide you through the process, which shouldn’t take more than a couple of minutes, depending on how quickly you type of course ;)

At this point you’ll have a new email address, something like .

Our next step is to get into Google Analytics and find our tracking code. The tracking code is a special piece of code that we need to put on our website that studies the users when they visit the site.

to load the Google Analytics home page; click on the big blue button that says Access Analytics and log in using your new Google email address you created above along with the password you chose. You’ll now be sitting inside the Google Analytics software and should be seeing something like this:

Click the Sign up button on the right and you’ll be taken through to the Account Creation section. Fill in the form, accept the Terms and Conditions once you’ve read through them and click the Create Account button at the bottom. Welcome to the Dashboard!

Scroll down in your browser and look for the tracking code, which falls under the title of, “2. Paste this code on your site”. Click on the tracking code, it will automatically highlight, then right click and select copy, like so:

Log into your WordPress Dashboard, click through to the eFrog Options Panel and finally click on the Trackers tab. You will see a input field, this is where you’ll paste the tracking code you copied in the previous step, like so:

Right click, choose “Paste” and finish off by clicking on the orange Save All button.

You’re done!

Click back into Google Analytics and click on the Save button underneath the tracking code you copy/pasted.

You’ll need to wait about 24 hours before you see any statistics appear, so what I advise is writing down www.google.com/analytics and visiting it again in 24 hours, don’t forget to keep your new Google Mail account details handy as you will more than likely have to sign in again.

There’s a great deal to Google Analytics and I hope that I’ll be able to pick up on this topic again and teach you what you can do inside Analytics, but until then you’ll have to try swim on your own!

Froggy, out!

Bonus: Want to see your Google Analytics information in your Dashboard? and we’ll tell you how!
